The World’s Largest Lesson is an opportunity to take meaningful, local action on the Sustainable Development Goals during the festival itself.
The World’s Largest Lesson is one of the exciting initiatives available to attendees of the Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development, but given limited spaces, make sure you register now to reserve your place at these sessions while you attend the Festival.
- Wednesday 21st March – The first session will introduce you to the World’s Largest Lesson, a growing movement of educators, civil society organizations, ministries of education and passionate individuals sharing the Sustainable Development Goals with millions of children and young people in over 100 countries.
- You will then have the opportunity to craft your own World’s Largest Lesson in teams of 2-3 under the guidance of our facilitators.
- Thursday 22nd March – You will deliver your lesson to a grade 5-8 class (students aged 9-13 years) in Bonn, empowering them to take part in the MY World Survey and commit to take small actions on the Goals.
We invite you to become one of up to 100 facilitators to take part in the first ever World’s Largest Lesson Bonn activation, and share your commitment to the Goals by inspiring 2500 young citizens to become leaders for a sustainable future.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Up to 100 delegates will have the opportunity to work in small groups to channel their passion and expertise to create and deliver their own World’s Largest Lesson about the Sustainable Development Goals to inspire a class of students in a local school and represent those student voices back to the conference. The first session on 21st March of 90 minutes, which will introduce you to the World’s Largest Lesson global campaign building momentum, now in over 100 countries. It will be a hands-on guided session, where you will create your own World’s Largest Lesson in groups of 2-3 to teach the Sustainable Development Goals, using materials including the “My World” Survey and World’s Largest Lesson animations.
During the second session on 22nd March, you will visit a local school to deliver your 90 minute World’s Largest Lesson to a group of 8-13 year-old students.
Your lesson will include the opportunity to share your own perspective on the Goals and ignite a conversation with students in which they share their own thoughts and ideas on the Goals and how to achieve them. You will then have the opportunity to share back your experience with the rest of the conference.
After this experience you will be equipped to share the World’s Largest Lesson with your colleagues and community to bring the Sustainable Development Goals to students in your local area if you wish, and help unite a generation to take action on the Goals.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We invite your school to participate in the World’s Largest Lesson activation by welcoming groups of 2-3 guest facilitators into your grade 5-7 classrooms (students aged 9-13 years) for 90 minutes on Thursday 22 March 2018 to deliver a lesson to introduce your students to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and inspire student action . The facilitators will be passionate campaigners for Sustainable Development issues and part of the delegation of the concurrent Global Festival of Action, hosted by the UN SDG Action Campaign at the World Conference Center Bonn. Each group of facilitators will consist of 2-3 international experts and include at least one German speaker. A short programme of training overseen by World’s Largest Lesson representatives will prepare them to use the free online pedagogical tools, already utilized by tens of thousands of teachers in over 40 languages, to support their specialist knowledge and enthusiasm to deliver a memorable and impactful learning experience for your students.
In just one day, we aim to activate 100 facilitators to deliver the World’s Largest Lesson to 2500 students in the city, and unite a young Bonn generation in becoming leaders for a sustainable future. They were agreed in September 2015 on behalf of the world’s citizens by the heads of state of all member states of the United Nations (including Germany) after the biggest public consultation in UN history. This is an inaugural World’s Largest Lesson event for Bonn, and your students will not only have the opportunity to learn about this important international agenda but they will also be invited to share their thoughts on the Sustainable Development Goals in writing, short video and by survey.
