Call for volunteers!
The UN SDG Action Campaign is looking volunteers to support the preparations, communications and delivery of the Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development.
There are three volunteer categories that you can apply for, details as follows:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1517330802424{margin-top: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” active_section=”1″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Volunteers supporting preparations for the event (Jan-End of March)” tab_id=”1513339184607-a97f7685-0932″][vc_column_text]This is a longer term programme and will require 1-2 days per week in the lead up to the Festival to support the preparations. Volunteers entering into this programme will have the opportunity to really engage with Festival development, build relationships with key team members and partners and strengthen event management, planning and coordination skillsets. Volunteers applying for this category will also be helping to run the event onsite and will lead sub-groups of other volunteers.
Any volunteers interested in committing more than 1-2 days a week are also encouraged to apply.
Tasks will include:
- Support on participant list management and communications to attendees
- Support on participant liaison to share logistical information as needed
- Support on responding to enquiries about the Festival
- Support on mapping room-set up and technical requirements for sessions and keeping logistics plans and records up-to-date
- Support on updating conference materials to be showcased on the event website and to be shared with participants in a timely fashion – this will include logistic notes and updates to the agenda
- Support on ensuring sustainable principles are rolled out throughout the Festival plans and operations
- Other administration tasks as required to support the Events Management team
- Preparing materials to be distributed to participants at the Festival
- Support with updating of event information onto the event management app
Requirements:
- Based in Bonn
- Fluent English. Other languages – in particular German – are an advantage.
- Competent in written English and communicating in a professional manner
- Organised, reliable and friendly manner.
- Proof that the volunteer already has health insurance for the period of the appointment
- Strong time management skills and an eye for detail
Volunteers available to support for this period will be invited to work with the team at Haus Carstanjen, the Headquarters of the UN SDG Action Campaign in Bonn at Martin-Luther-King-Straße, 53175 Bonn, Germany[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Volunteers supporting the operations of running the Festival (20-23rd March)” tab_id=”1513339741020-a7db4fe0-8392″][vc_column_text]All volunteers supporting to deliver the event onsite will have the opportunity to sit in and engage with a variety of Festival sessions, to strengthen event management skillsets, and to meet and network with participants of the event.
Tasks will include:
- Preparing participants packs (on 20th March)
- Registering and welcoming participants and handing out their badges
- Collecting translation headsets at the end of plenary sessions
- Answering participants’ questions at the information point
- Assisting participants with watching the UN Virtual Reality Movies
- Managing microphones for Q&A parts of sessions
- Moving tables and chairs to change room set-ups between sessions
- General logistics support tasks as required
Requirements:
- Based in Bonn or the volunteer has an appropriate visa or residency rights to be in Bonn for the duration of the Festival
- Fluent English. Other languages – in particular German – are an advantage.
- Organised, reliable and friendly manner.
- Proof that the volunteer already has health insurance for the period of the event.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Volunteers supporting communications during the Festival (12-23rd March)” tab_id=”1513339745945-d902e087-c2ce”][vc_column_text]The week before the Festival, from 12- 16 March, volunteers will be invited to attend training sessions and work with the team at the Haus Carstanjen, the Headquarters of the UN SDG Action Campaign in Bonn at Martin-Luther-King-Straße, 53175 Bonn, Germany. During the Festival, from 21-23 March, the volunteers will work onsite.
Tasks will include:
- Supporting social media coverage and generating content, such as taking photos, filming short videos, and conducting participant interviews as requested
- Attending sessions and writing blog posts
- Supporting the SDG Studio as needed:
- Ensuring speakers are at the stage on time and following the schedule
- Supporting with stage configuration (such as moving chairs), managing microphones
- General communications tasks as required
Requirements:
- Based in Bonn or the volunteer has an appropriate visa or residency rights to be in Bonn for the duration of the Festival and the week before
- Fluent English. Other languages – in particular German – are an advantage.
- Organized, reliable and friendly manner.
- Proof that the volunteer already has health insurance for the period of the event.
- Relevant experience in communications, social media and/or new media is preferred.
