Frequently Asked Questions

The SDG Global Festival of Action brings together leaders from governments, local authorities, international organizations, civil society, activists, young advocates, the creative industry and the private sector– all working to scale up the impact of their work and strategize joint actions, whilst motivating new organizations and individuals to join the movement and take action for the SDGs.

If you are working on SDG campaigning, communications, advocacy, liaison, education, implementation or awareness raising, we want to hear from you!

We are keen to bring together people who are acting towards the achievement of the SDGs from a variety of sectors, specialisms and regions to foster true collaboration and joint up actions.

You will be asked to first create a delegate profile where you enter personal information, followed by a series of more substantive questions about the kind of SDG work you are engaged with, why you wish to attend the Festival and what you hope to get out of it.

The application process shouldn’t take long to complete but by finding out a bit more about you, the Festival organizing team are able to ensure a diverse and high quality mix of SDG actors in attendance from across the globe!

The SDG Global Festival of Action Organizing team will respond within 14 days of receiving your application.

The Festival is completely free to attend! Refreshments will also be available throughout the 3 days but participants will be required to cover their own travel and accommodation costs along with expenses.

The window for submissions will close on 15th January 2019, these will then be reviewed by the UN SDG Action Campaign and successful applicants will be contacted via email by the end of February 2019.

YES! We would love to welcome you again!

All active partners engaging in the Festival, whether speaking, hosting a session, innovation, experience or performing will be offered privileged visa support which includes an official visa invitation letter and a waiver of visa fees.

General Festival participants however will be offered a confirmation letter when their registration is accepted but will not be eligible for further support.

The Festival Organizing team are unfortunately unable to provide funding for participants to join, we would however encourage you to seek support if needed through other avenues. In previous years we’ve seen participants crowdfund their place – a great way to demonstrate your campaigning skills and share what you are doing with your networks!

Yes. Every person in attendance at the Festival will need to register, including speakers! If you have applied to be part of the programme, you will also be reminded to register upon receiving confirmation of engagement by the Festival organizers.

YES! Every single Festival goer will be an active contributor to the discussions and insights shared at the Festival. Although the window to apply for a designated speaking role has now closed, there will be a variety of opportunities for you to share your insights at the Festival.

Look out for the Meet-up Spaces where you can schedule presentations and convene a group of peers, watch the programme for the SDG Studio and other bar camps, there will be open mic style pitch sessions being scheduled, and please check out the programme before attending. With a diverse range of interactive sessions, all geared towards active participation of audiences, there will be plenty of workshops, round tables and network cafes waiting for you to share your expertise!

No –  If you wish to attend with participants under the age of 16, you will need to ensure that they have a chaperone and it is the chaperone’s responsibility to ensure any required consent is provided by parents or carers.

Youth are critical to the achievement of the global SDG movement, therefore if you wish to bring a group of minors to the Festival and have any further questions, please do contact us at support@sdgaction.org and ensure you provide further details through the application process.
