Campaign Activation Workshop | Activation Space
Host: Focus2030
The Campaign
In June, France will host the UN Women Generation Equality Forum (GEF) on gender equality. This event is an unparalleled convening moment, since the Beijing forum in 1995. It consequently represents a unique advocacy opportunity for civil society, especially to discuss sexual and reproductive health and rights.
The host coalition of this session, is a group of about fifty intersectional french feminist organizations that aims to make the GEF a strong political moment for gender equality – with a focus on creating a power balance with states to enforce the uptake of meaningful commitments on gender equality, with a keen focus on gender-based violences.
The Opportunity
This workshop, hosted just after the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and directly ahead of the GEF inaugural event in Mexico provides a unique opportunity to galvanise support and activate new networks and coalitions to mobilise around a new global campaign to end gender-based violence. This is a key moment to harness the people power of the Festival to put pressure on states to make the meaningful commitments needed to enact irreversible and sustainable change.
The Participants
Feminist activists, opinion leaders and influencers, media and advocacy, campaign of communications experts from feminist associations and NGOs are strongly encouraged to join this session! Participants from all backgrounds and sectors will also be warmly welcome to join this activation, and support the much-needed awareness around the opportunity of GEF, and what is at stake if this opportunity is not embraced.
The Contribution
During the workshops, participants will be encourage to identify new actors to join the campaign, provide feedback on the ideas and approach for the global campaign and share their expertise on how they can translate the campaign to their own contexts and countries.
The Take Aways
The aim of this event is to trigger a long-standing interest and engagement in this campaign – to welcome and form meaningful connections with new allies, and new networks. Participants will therefore take away a great understanding of the campaign, and ways in which they can support and mobilise around it, and hopefully join the GEF in May!
