The Skill Set
In this interactive ‘How to’ session, UNDP invites festival participants to take a deep dive into the world of data and learn how to use different types of data, analyses, insights and simulators to accelerate SDG progress in their country contexts. Participants will walk away with the ability to navigate the many functionalities on UNDP’s new Data Futures Platform (https://data.undp.org/) and use the data to conduct their own analyses to inform decision making and programs that help build forward better from COVID-19.
The Opportunity
The interactive Data Futures Platform platform provides unique opportunities for analysis, insights identification and collaboration around an evolving set of relevant topics that anyone can use to make more evidence-based policy decisions or to learn more about a variety of policy areas. Explore what a temporary basic income would cost in your country, assess COVID impacts on education, or delve deeper into visualizations of long-term impacts on poverty.
The Participants
Join this workshop if you are interested in using data to create portfolios of options or find new solutions to development challenges! Development practitioners from government, civil society, UN system and academia will find this session useful.
The Skill Building
This is a ‘How to’ session where UNDP will guide participants through the Data Futures platform and its many functionalities. Participants will be able to ask questions, interact with the creators of the platforms and take a deep dive into specific country cases.
The Take Aways
After this session, you will be able to navigate the Data Futures Platform and use the data to examine policy scenarios or development challenges in relation to the COVID-19 response.
