Plenary session | Main stage
Host: UN SDG Action Campaign
The crisis is an urgent call to revisit our values and behaviors, and design new systems that work for people and planet, not against them. We must usher in a historic new era of development that truly balances economic, social and environmental progress as envisioned by the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. To get there, what questions do we need to ask first?
Who are we rebuilding for?
How do we make globalization work for the good of all people and the planet as a whole? Can value chains deliver real value, in line with the SDGs?
How can ICT be better linked not just to algorithms, but to principles of human rights and the aims of the 2030 Agenda?
How do we rethink political spaces so they sustain social cohesion and underpin new social contracts, rather than undercutting them?
How can we make peace with nature?
What should new relationships be between the private and public realms, taking one cue from accelerating action among large corporations to take and anticipate required climate actions?
How can we do better on measurement, as fundamental to what is visible and prioritized, from environmental costs to social inclusion?
