Plenary sessions | Main Stage
Host: UN SDG Action Campaign
The world faces the deepest global health, social and economic crises in a century, coupled with the growing destruction of biodiversity, worsening impacts of the climate crisis, increasing and intersecting inequalities, and threats to fundamental rights. Hard-won development gains are at serious risk of reversal. To have a future, we must make this current moment a turning point for people and our planet. We can pursue the transformation that leads to a better world if we choose to do so, individually and collectively.
To open the discussions at the SDG Global Festival of Action, this Big Picture plenary discussion with explore the following:
What have we learned from the current crisis?
What opportunities are emerging? What is possible today that might have been impossible only months ago?
What is happening now that aligns with the 2030 Agenda? What needs to be aligned?
What is next? Imagining life in a post-pandemic world, is a new social contract possible? What would it look like?
What are the roles of global solidarity, individual action and inclusive multilateralism in finding solutions to our greatest challenges?
